A ‘Strike’-ing Interview with Tara Reid

Tara ReidStep aside you ding-dong daddies, have I got another killer interview just for you. This time I’m talkin’ with Tara Reid!

A working actress since childhood, Tara was already quite used to being in front of the camera by the time fame first found her in the hit movies “The Big Lebowski” and “American Pie.” Continued successes in films such as “Urban Legend” and “National Lampoon’s Van Wilder” and TV appearances on shows such as “Scrubs” have only fueled her career. Youth and stardom led to some wild days with a party-girl rep. Wardrobe malfunctions, a reality show and run-ins with the tabloid media went with the territory. But these days Tara is branching out into the world of fashion design and movie production, all while continuing to star in motion pictures. Her latest movie to come out on DVD is “Strike,” a bowling comedy in which she stars and produces! Last week, I was lucky enough to ask her a few questions, and here is what she had to say.

Movie ‘Tudes: Judging from the movie and the outtakes in the credits, “Strike” looks like it was a lot of fun to make. What were some of your favorite moments in the shooting?

Tara Reid: My favorite moment of shooting was my first day on the set working with my brother and hearing him say action. I was so proud of him. The movie was just a lot of fun, and I was glad to be a part of it.

MT: In addition to being the lead actress, you were the film’s producer. Please tell us about that experience and your production company Hi Happy Films.

TR: It was nice being the producer. My role as a producer was to help put the movie together and look for financing for the film.

MT: Your brother, Tommy, was the director of “Strike.” What was it like taking direction from your bro? Any sibling rivalry or shenanigans?

TR: It was very easy taking direction from my brother. At first I was afraid. What if he’s not good, it will be on me. But as soon as we started, I saw how well prepared my brother was. He was an excellent director, and I would love working with him again.

MT: Ed Hardy designer clothes received a plug in the film, and I once read you have also designed clothes for them. Are you still designing clothes for them? How does life compare between work in fashion design and acting?

TR: I love Ed Hardy, but I never designed anything for them. I have my own clothing line called “Mantra by Tara Reid.” I love designing my line, and I love acting, as well. They are both creative outlets for me.

MT: The tabloid media haven’t always been kind to you over the years. Tell us about the real life day-to-day Tara Reid-her interests, passions and pursuits that the paparazzi never shows.

TR: I can’t let myself get upset what people write. I just have to be myself. I’m not perfect, I make mistakes but that makes me human. I’m a girl that loves her family, loves to travel and I love my friends and my dog. I also love to cook, and, of course, I love to have fun.

MT: What’s up next for you? Please tell us about what we can look forward to seeing you in next.

TR: The next thing you’ll be seeing me in is this movie called “The Fields.” I start in September. There’s also the launch of my new clothing line Mantra, and I have a few more things I’m working on, but I am not free to say, just yet.
